Gackt + fact = Fackt

*shot for the lame pun*

Anyways, these are just little random bits of information about the man, kind of like a special feature in a new DVD that you just bought~ (lame I know…)

On to the “fackts!”

• Gackt ’s Japanese nickname is 魔王さま (maou-sama), which literally means Demon King (because his staff thinks he’s evil XD). Some translators like to render it as Devil King or Satan, but they still refer to the same Japanese phrase (thanks amaia~!).
• His favorite colors are black and white.
• He is the middle child of three, having an older sister and a younger brother.
• Gackt claims that he can see spirits and has been able to ever since he nearly drowned in the Okinawan Sea when he was seven years old.
• He currently has 4 pets, all dogs. The only one we know of is his long-haired white chihuahua named Eneru (or Ener). Gackt calls him Ene-tan. 
• Gackt had a maine coon cat named Mei, but in a recent interview he mentioned he did not have any cats, so it’s possible she either ran away or passed away. His minature daschund named Belle Constantine Chappy is probably the best known pet to fans, but sadly she passed away in 2007.
• Although Gackt is mainly seen writing with his left hand, he is actually ambidextrous.
• The man is very competitive. In the words of Gackt, “It’s not that I want to win; I just don’t want to lose.” And if you watch any of the programs that require Gackt to do some sort of challenge, you’ll come to find that he usually ends up winning!
• He is a perfectionist, so he won’t stop trying to accomplish a goal or task until he is completely satisfied with himself.
• Gackt can play a number of instruments, including the piano, trumpet, drums, guitar, and violin.
• Gackt has a number of different guitars that he uses to perform with. The two best known guitars are Mercury (white-ish in color) and Venus (black). Gackt designed these two guitars, with the body of a woman being the inspiration for them (think about it.. his guitars are curvy like the girlies, ne?)
• Besides seeing them on his tours, Venus is used in the BLACK STONE PV and Mercury is used in the Mirror PV.
• Before he decided to go into the music business, Gackt held multiple jobs such as a host, casino dealer, and sound technician.
• His house is located in an apartment building and consists of many floors. His sister also happens to live with him. He currently resides in Tokyo.
• He decorated his house so that it is uncomfortable to him. This is so he won’t spend as much time at home and will want to go out more.
• His house includes a dojo, a bar, and a waterfall in his bedroom.
• Gackt uses skulls as piggy banks for his spare coins (maybe they’re the skulls of all his victims… MWAHAHA!!)
• Ever notice the onyx bracelets that Gackt and GacktJOB wear? Gackt gives these bracelets out to his friends for protection. 
• The first time he did this was when he was ten years old. He gave his onyx ring to a friend for good luck when she was going to study overseas. She got into a car crash with her friend but managed to be the only one who did not get hurt. The onyx ring couldn’t be found after the crash.
• The onyx beads also represent the friendship that a person has with Gackt.
• He prefers candle light to electric light, because his eyes are sensitive to the fluorescence. This is why you often see him with some type of shades on (though recently he’s decided to wear clear shades… no complaints here!)
• Gackt’s real eye color is a dark brown. He has many different colored contacts, but is usually seen wearing his signature blue contacts.
• Gackt used to be quite the heavy smoker, but has quit smoking since 2005.
• He claims to have 6% body fat. The abs prove it too~ Recently his body fat has moved up to 10%, which is perhaps why he looks “healthier” to many fans.
• Gackt works out daily (for hours on end.. seriously it is crazy how much he works out sometimes). Some of the excercises he does include push-ups, Tae-Kwon-Do, backflips, crunches, sparring, and pull-ups.
• During tours, he will train with his staff for 5 hours everyday.
• He likes to be flexible and uses machines, such as the infamous “Crotch Splitter,” to accomplish this.
• His waist line is about 70-71 cm.
• Gackt doesn’t like many sweet foods. That’s not to say that he does not eat them at all; he just doesn’t go crazy when presented with an assortment of chocolates.
• In order to maintain his weight and figure, Gackt has taken it upon himself to cut carbs off from his diet, going so far as not eating any rice for 10 years now. But he will eat other carbs once in a little while.
• If one of his staff members needs to go on a diet, Gackt will join them for support.
• His favorite ramen comes from Miyoshi, a ramen shop in Kyoto. He eats their ramen on his birthday as a little treat to himself~
• He likes spicy foods like kimchee and curry.
• Gackt can cook things like curry, but it takes him four days to prepare a meal. It starts with going to the store and buying the meat, then to cooking it and inviting people over to eat. (If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the links: Pt.1 and Pt.2)
• If you are invited to eat with Gackt, you must first fight and spar with his bodyguards and then himself. This proves that you deserve to eat after working out for so long (basically Gackt wants you to earn your right to eat.. I know, crazy, and I doubt it’s all true lol).
• Gackt opened his own resturant called the Tamaly Bar back in 2004. It was a place where he and the staff could hang out but was closed down in 2006. It has been re-opened as a section on the Dears Village site (thanks amaia~!)
• He likes white wine, but drinks other alcoholic drinks like vodka and whatnot.
• Apparently, when Gackt gets drunk he first laughs, then cries, and then gets violent (yikes!)
• Gackt is also quite a heavy drinker. His birthday is usually referred to as “Hell” because of all the drinking that goes on!
• Gackt likes to walk around his hotel room or house completely naked. He doesn’t do it as often as he used to because there are always so many people at his house nowadays.
• He usually sleeps for about 2-3 hours everyday. The time he should be using for sleep is spent on training or working.
• In his blogs, Gackt refers to “dying” as falling asleep (though when he says he will make us die.. he kinda means that. ‘Cause you know, his performances are that amazing *haha*).
• He claims that he can have sex up to 8 hours. (…yeah *cough cough*)
• In Gackt’s blogs, he refers to “drinking blood” as having sex xD
• He has referred to his umm.. “friend down there” as a “Magnum” and occasionally brags about it in interviews.
• Gackt’s fanclub was called Kissmark before it became Dears.
• Gackt was once married to a Korean woman, but due to some crazy rabid fangirls, they divorced.
• Gackt loves loves loves loves loves women.
• The first thing he notices about a woman is the way she speaks. He doesn’t like women with annoying voices and finds a woman beautiful when she can speak beautifully too (in other words, she doesn’t use a lot of slang and acts like a lady).
• Gackt’s preferences for cars can be applied to women as well. He prefers American cars to Japanese. “Selfish, bold and saucy, but sexy with a great body. A girl like that.”
• Although he has said that he could love another man emotionally, he needs a woman sexually.
• Gackt has said that a woman like HYDE or YOU is the type of girl he would fall for.
• Gackt does not want any kids because he does not want his child/children to have his “sixth sense” or to experience the same things he had to when he was growing up.
• He was a very mischevious child and talks about his many devilish acts on shows like Domoto Kyoudai and Heyx3! Music Champ.
• Gackt hates going on t.v. because he gets really nervous.
• Gackt is afraid of cockroaches. He has said that he would like to be one in another life in order to understand it, and perhaps then he wouldn’t be so afraid of them.
• Gackt’s family consists of his band members, dancers, and staff.
• Gackt is good friends with HYDE (L’Arc~en~Ciel, VAMPS), YOSHIKI (X Japan), Hamada (Heyx3! Music Champ, Downtown), Black Mayonnaise (a comedic duo), Masahiro Inoue (Kamen Rider Decade), Ayumi Hamasaki, and many other well-known figures in Japan.
• He also thinks of Miyavi as a brother, and Miyavi will usually refer to Gackt as “Gaku-ani” or “onii-chan” x3
• Gackt was also great friends with Ogata Ken, whom he co-starred with in the NHK taiga drama “Furin Kazan”. He looked up to him as a father and teacher. After he passed away, Gackt dedicated My Father’s Day in his honor.
• Gackt always manages to visit the grave of his deceased friend Kami (drummer of Malice Mizer) every year on his death day and his birthday. He dedicated U+K and emu ~for my dear~ in his memory.
• He also dedicated BLACK STONE in memory of JR, his driver and close friend.
• Gackt believed that he would only live until he was thirty because he was not very healthy and lived such a reckless life. He considers the years after he turned thirty his “extra years.”
• He prefers written letters from fans rather than emails because he claims an actual letter tells him a lot about that person.
• Gackt holds an annual fanclub trip every year, where he performs for his Dears and spends time with them as well. They go to places like L.A., Paris, and more!
• He also has an annual ski trip with his Dears… I wanna go ;o;
• His favorite manga is Banana Fish.
• Gackt is a big Gundam fan. The song and PV Metamorphoze is dedicated to the anime and he released 0079-0088 as a gift to the series’ creator.
• He also loves to impersonate characters in the Gundam world and knows many (if not all) lines from the anime.
• Gackt also happens to be a big otaku – one of the walls of his house is an entire bookcase filled with manga!
• Gackt’s favorite city in the world is Paris, followed by New York. In fact, it is because of his love for New York that Gackt wrote 12gatsu no Love Song in light of the 9/11 attacks.
• Gackt’s 2005 DIABOLOS Final Tour performance at the Tokyo Dome was one of his more expensive concerts, but the Japanese press tends to exaggerate the actual costs all too often n.n; (thanks amaia~!)
• When at a Gackt concert, the orchestral piece playing while you wait for him to blow your socks off is called Bolero by Maurice Ravel (thanks amaia~!)
• Gackt doesn’t produce songs to create albums. He produces songs that fit into the story he has created and wants to share with his fans.
• Gackt likes watching stories that make you cry (aww~).
• When his friends/family/staff are over, they watch scary movies together and turn their hangout into a batsu game (punishment game). Whoever screams during the movie has to take a shot of liquor~
• Apparently Gackt has watched Final Destination 2 tons of times, but always screams at the same parts (I still can’t picture that…)
• Gackt likes to snowboard and takes his snowboard with him whenever he gets a chance to hit the slopes.
