Anyways, below you’ll find a list of known and unknown “fackts” about the man we all love~! If there’s a “fackt” that you think should be up here, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below and I’ll add it to the list n.n

Basics:
•GACKT is the middle child of three, having an older sister and a younger brother.
•Around staff his nickname is 魔王さま (maou-sama), which literally means Demon King, because he pushes his staff to work very hard (which in turn makes them think he might be evil XD). Some translators like to render it as Devil King or Satan, but they still refer to the same Japanese phrase (thanks amaia~!).
•GACKT claims that he can see spirits and has been able to ever since he nearly drowned in the Okinawa Sea when he was seven years old.
•His favorite colors are black and white.
•Although GACKT is mainly seen writing with his left hand, he is actually ambidextrous.
•His real eye color is a dark brown. He has many different colored contacts but is usually seen wearing his signature blue contacts.

Early Life:
•GACKT has had a harsh childhood:
1) GACKT and his siblings were only allowed to watch educational t.v. He was also forced to play the piano since the age of three.
2) After a near-death experience in the Okinawa Sea at age seven, he claimed he could see the spirits of the dead. His family would not believe him and began to think he was mentally unstable.
3) At the age of ten, GACKT was taken to the hospital due to a gastrointestinal problem and had to stay in the pediatric ward for a long period of time, along with other children who were terminally ill. He would often make friends with kids who would die a few days later. Only when he began imitating doctors and nurses was he deemed “normal” enough to leave.
•He was a very mischievous and reckless child growing up – pulling pranks, getting into trouble, and having one too many near-death experiences (15 to be exact).
•Before he decided to go into the music business, GACKT held multiple jobs as a host, casino dealer, and sound technician.

Personality:
•The man is very competitive. In his own words, “It’s not that I want to win; I just don’t want to lose.” If you watch any of the game programs that GACKT participates in, you’ll come to find that he usually ends up winning too!
•He is a perfectionist in everything he does. He doesn’t like to half-ass things and will not stop working on a project until he is satisfied with the results.
•GACKT hates going on t.v. because he gets really nervous and shy.
•After finishing a project, GACKT always makes sure to thank and shake the hands of every person involved.
• He trains and works harder than most people in order to win against his weaker, lazier sides.

Home:
•His house is located in an apartment building and consists of many floors. His sister has also lived with him at one point, though it is unknown if she still does. He currently resides in Tokyo.
•His house includes a dojo, a bar, and a waterfall in his bedroom.
•He decorated his home so that it is uncomfortable to him. This is so he won’t spend as much time there and will want to go out more.

Pets:
•He currently has 4 pets, all dogs. The only one we know of is his long-haired white chihuahua named Eneru (or Ener). GACKT calls him Ene-tan.
•GACKT had a maine coon cat named Mei, but in a recent interview he mentioned he did not have any cats, so it’s possible she either ran away or passed away.
•His minature daschund named Belle Constantine Chappy is probably the best known pet to fans, but sadly she passed away in 2007.
•Interestingly enough, GACKT prefers cats over dogs.

Health and Nutrition:
•He claims to have 6% body fat – the abs prove it too~ Recently his body fat has moved up to 10% and he has gained more muscle, which is perhaps why he looks “healthier” to many fans.
•GACKT works out daily. During tours, he will train with the band and dancers for 5 hours everyday. Some of the exercises they do include push-ups, Tae-Kwon-Do, back flips, crunches, sparring, and pull-ups.
•He likes to be flexible and uses machines, such as the infamous “Crotch Splitter,” to accomplish this.
•His waist line is about 70-71 cm.
•GACKT used to be quite the heavy smoker, but he has quit smoking since 2006.
•GACKT doesn’t like many sweet foods. That’s not to say that he does not eat them at all; he just doesn’t go crazy when presented with an assortment of chocolates.
•In order to maintain his weight and figure, GACKT has taken it upon himself to cut carbs off from his diet, going so far as not eating any rice for 10 years. He does eat carbs once in a little while though.
•He likes spicy foods like kimchee and curry.
•His favorite ramen comes from Miyoshi, a ramen shop in Kyoto. He eats their ramen on his birthday as a little treat to himself~
•GACKT can cook things like curry, but it takes him four days to prepare a meal. It starts with going to the store and buying the meat, then to cooking it and inviting people over to eat (Look up “pork belly blocks” or “butabara” on YouTube if you haven’t seen it already :p)
•If he invites you over to eat, you must first fight and spar with his bodyguards and then GACKT himself. This proves that you deserve to eat after working out for so long. Basically the man wants you to earn your right to eat. I know, crazy, and I doubt it’s all true lol
•If one of his staff members needs to go on a diet, GACKT will join them for support.
•GACKT opened his own restaurant called the Tamaly Bar back in 2004. It was a place where he and the staff could hang out but was closed down in 2006. It has been re-opened as a section on the DEARS Village site (thanks amaia~!)
•GACKT has his own personal chef, Izumi-san, who blogs every now and again on the Tamaly Bar section in DEARS Village.
•GACKT is quite the heavy drinker. His birthday is usually referred to as “Hell” because of all the drinking that goes on!
•Apparently when GACKT gets drunk, he first laughs, then cries, and then gets violent – yikes!
•He likes white wine, but drinks other alcoholic drinks like vodka and whatnot.
•He usually sleeps for about 2-3 hours everyday. The time he should be using for sleep is spent on training or working.

Love and Relationships:
•Ever notice the onyx bracelets that GACKT and Job wear? GACKT gives these bracelets out to his friends for protection. The first time he did this was when he was ten years old. He gave his onyx ring to a friend for good luck when she was going to study overseas. She got into a car crash with her friend but managed to be the only one who did not get hurt. The onyx ring couldn’t be found after the crash. The onyx beads also represent the friendship that a person has with GACKT.
•He claims that he can have sex up to 8 hours… Yeah *cough cough*
•GACKT was once married to a Korean woman, but due to some crazy rabid fangirls, they divorced. He has stated that he would not like to get married again T^T…
•GACKT loves loves loves loves loves women.
•The first thing he notices about a woman is the way she speaks. He doesn’t like women with annoying voices and finds a woman beautiful when she can speak beautifully too. In other words, she doesn’t use a lot of slang and acts like a lady.
•GACKT’s preferences for cars can be applied to women as well. “Selfish, bold and saucy, but sexy with a great body. A girl like that.”
•Although he has said that he could love another man emotionally, he needs a woman physically.
•GACKT has said that a woman like HYDE or YOU is the type of girl he would fall for.
•He doesn’t want any kids because he does not want his child/children to have his “sixth sense” or to experience the same things he had to when he was growing up.
•GACKT’s family consists of his band members, dancers, and staff. As for his biological family, he and his older sister are close. He has a strained relationship with his father and his brother is rarely mentioned.
•GACKT is good friends with many well-known figures in Japan. Ex.: HYDE (L’Arc~en~Ciel, VAMPS), YOSHIKI (X JAPAN), SUGIZO (LUNA SEA) Hamada (Heyx3! Music Champ, Downtown), Black Mayonnaise (a comedic duo), Masahiro Inoue (Kamen Rider Decade), Ayumi Hamasaki, and more.
•He also refers to MIYAVI as his brother, and MIYAVI will usually refer to GACKT as “Gaku-ani” or “onii-chan” (which both mean older brother, in a sense).
•GACKT was also great friends with the late Ogata Ken, whom he co-starred with in the NHK taiga drama “Furin Kazan”. He was also a teacher and father-figure to him.
•He always manages to visit the grave of his deceased friend Kami (drummer of Malice Mizer) every year on his death day and his birthday.

Music:
•GACKT can play a number of instruments including the piano, trumpet, drums, guitar, and violin as well as traditional Japanese and Chinese instruments. If you ask me, GACKT can play anything that makes music.
•GACKT has a number of different guitars that he uses to perform with. The two best known guitars are Mercury (white-ish in color) and Venus (black). He designed these two for Caparison Guitars, a Japanese-based manufacturer of custom electric guitars. His inspiration for the body was that of a woman’s (think about it: his guitars are curvy like the girlies, ne? ;p) Besides using them in his tours, Venus is used in the BLACK STONE PV and Mercury is used in the Mirror PV.
•The song and PV Metamorphoze is dedicated to the Gundam anime series and he released the compilation album 0079-0088 as a gift to the series’ creator.
•GACKT has dedicated a number of his songs to dear friends whom have passed away. These songs are usually uplifting – perhaps in celebration of their life rather than in mourning:
1) My Father’s Day is dedicated in honor of his teacher and father-figure Ogata Ken.
2) BLACK STONE was dedicated in memory to JR, his driver and close friend.
3) It is rumored that the song U+K was dedicated to Kami (drummer of Malice Mizer).
•GACKT wrote 12gatsu no Love Song in light of the 9/11 attacks.
•GACKT’s 2005 DIABOLOS Final Tour performance at the Tokyo Dome was one of his more expensive concerts, but the Japanese press tends to exaggerate the actual costs all too often n.n; (thanks amaia~!)
•The orchestral piece playing while you wait for his concert to start is called Bolero by Maurice Ravel (thanks amaia~!)
•GACKT doesn’t produce songs to create albums. He produces songs that fit into the story he has created and wants to share with his fans.

DEARS:
•GACKT’s fanclub was called Kissmark before it became DEARS.
•He prefers handwritten letters from fans rather than emails because he claims an actual letter tells him a lot about that person.
•GACKT gets 2000 emails a day! He reads them all though, and tries to respond as much as he can.
•GACKT holds an annual fan club trip every year, where he performs for his DEARS and spends time with them as well. They go to places like L.A., Paris, and more! He also has an annual ski trip with the fan club… I wanna go ;o;

Fanboy-ism:
•GACKT happens to be a big otaku (die-hard anime fan) – one of the walls of his house is an entire bookcase filled with manga!
•His favorite manga is Banana Fish.
•GACKT is a big Gundam fan. He is able to impersonate characters in the Gundam world quite accurately and knows many (if not all) lines from the anime. He has also participated in many events related to the series, such as the unveiling of the giant Gundam robot in Odaiba.

Miscellaneous:
•GACKT uses skulls as piggy banks for his spare coins. Maybe they’re the skulls of all his victims… MWAHAHA!!
•He prefers candle light to electric light because his eyes are sensitive to the fluorescence. This is why you often see him with shades on during talk shows, though recently he’s decided to wear clear shades… no complaints here!
•He has referred to his umm.. “friend down there” as a “Magnum” and occasionally brags about it in interviews.
•GACKT likes to walk around his hotel room or house completely naked. He doesn’t as often as he used to though because there are always so many people at his house nowadays.
•GACKT has been afraid of cockroaches ever since a swarm of them came into his house back in Okinawa. He has said that he would like to be one in another life in order to understand it, and perhaps then he wouldn’t be so afraid of them.
•GACKT believed that he would only live until he was thirty because he was not very healthy and lived such a reckless life. He considers the years after he turned thirty his “extra years.”
•He prefers American cars to Japanese.
•GACKT’s favorite city in the world is Paris, followed by New York.
•GACKT likes watching movies that make you cry (aww~).
•When his friends/family/staff are over, they watch scary movies together and turn their hangout into a batsu game (punishment game). Whoever screams during the movie has to take a shot of liquor~
•GACKT has watched Final Destination 2 tons of times, but always screams at the same parts (I still can’t picture that…)
•GACKT likes to snowboard and takes his board with him whenever he gets a chance to hit the slopes.
